No Situation Is Ever | It's Never Too Late!Have you ever felt FOMO (fear of missing out)? Do you ever feel like other people are getting the good things in life, but somehow you're being left out? Today is Pesach Shini, the second Passover, which comes exactly one month after the week long, matzah crunching Passover that we just celebrated in the Hebrew month of Nissan. It has a very powerful lesson to teach us and a great gift for the soul. A year after the Exodus, G-d instructed the Jews, once again, to bring the Passover sacrific. Some individuals were, unfortunately, unable to bring the Passover sacrifice in its proper time, because they were, ritually impure or too far away at the time of the offering. Not wanting to miss out on the mitzvah, they complained to Moses and Aaron, "Why should we lose out?" They thought that they had missed their chance and they were very upset. Because they had a passion for holiness and complained loudly about missing out on this special mitzvah, not only did they get to do the mitzvah, but they got for us an extra mitzvah for all time. G-d established Pesach Sheini, the Second Passover for those who were unable to bring the offering in its appointed time. Pesach Shene teaches us that it's never too late! Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak, the previous Rebbe of Lubavitch said, “The Second Passover teahces us that no situation is ever competely lost." It's never too late. Even if a person was on an impure path. Even if that person deliberately took that path, nevertheless, the situation is not too late to correct. We can ALWAYS make restitution. But, said the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, "This only seems to be relevant to someone who appears to be "lost." What about the person who hasn't "lost" anything at all?" And, why is this still relevant today when we are in exile? We can't bring the Passover sacrifices now without our holy Temple. Nevertheless, we can learn Torah and inspire each other to do more mitzvahs and acts of kindness. If we lost the chance to do a mitzvah, we can make up for it by doing double what we would have done the first time. G-d grants gifts from above, including the gift of a second chance. You have to passionately feel like your missing out and take your complaint all the way to the top - to G-d, the CEO of the universe! If there are some things you should have done and didn't, there is still time to fix your situation. You can do those things, as well, with enthusiasm - with even greater enthusiasm! A second chance gives us double the oportunity to do greater good in this world. Even if we missed out the first time around, we can take a positive step forward and that elevates every aspect of our lives. So, grab the spiritual benefits of Pesach Sheini. Eat a bite of shemurah matzah and think about something - ANYTHING you can do to make amends. May it be in a good manner, with blessing and success, with all the special power, blessings and merit that are infused in this day! |
